East Main Antiques & Fine Furnishings is Westminster’s newest retail shop located in the idyllic Historic Downtown area. We carry a wide range of antique furniture, vintage items, gifts, china, art and barware. Owner Vanessa Armstrong started collecting antiques over 30 years ago and has developed an eye for quality antiques. In 2001 she purchased a Howard County horse farm on which stood a late 1700’s stone house and the furniture from her 1980’s colonial simply did not work in her new home.

 

It was at this point she began the process of overhauling her furniture and scouring estate sales for period appropriate goods. Fast forward to 2006 and Vanessa had fallen in love with yet another historic home - this one dating back to 1926. After she purchased the property she quickly came to the realization that once again her collection was of the wrong era and she began the hunt once more in search of art deco pieces that were of a similar age to the home. She sourced everything including bathroom fixtures, lighting, furniture and decor - scouring auctions, estate sales, yard sales and marketplace and has truly restored her home to its original glory.

 

With her home project complete, she realized she needed another venue for her creative spirit as she continued to find quality pieces and beautiful art. She knew it needed to be showcased but her home was at capacity and so East Main Antiques was conceived and opened in late 2022. Located in a historic building itself, the shop now boasts 11 vendors and spans over 5,500 square feet of retail space.
